Elba Island
Elba Island

Just 10 km from the coast, Elba is, for its size, the third Italian island.

Since 1996, together with Pianosa, Montecristo, Capraia, Giglio, Giannutri and Gorgona it is part of the enchanting Natural Park of the Tuscan Archipelago.

Renowned for its beaches and clear blue sea, Elba, with its 147 km of coastline and 224 square kilometers of extension, presents a multitude of different landscapes.

The coast at times smooth and low, sometimes steep and jagged offers more than 70 beaches between small unspoilt coves accessible only by foot or by sea, granite rocks dishes, white pebble beaches, bays of clear and fine sand, large equipped beaches.

The interior, dominated by Monte Capanne (m. 1019) and Monte Perone, is dotted with small and ancient villages surrounded by lush greenery, ideal for those who love the simple nature walks or more challenging hikes.

The Island of Elba, thanks to the favorable climate, is green in all periods of the year. Everywhere there is the fragrant Mediterranean scrub and forests of oak and chestnut; among different animal species you can find the booted eagle, kestrel, cormorant and the kingfisher and among marine mammals is not uncommon to encounter different types of whale and the common dolphin.

Elbe has about 35,000 inhabitants and is divided into eight municipalities: Portoferraio, Campo nell'Elba, Porto Azzurro, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Capoliveri, Rio Marina and Rio nell'Elba, each with its own peculiarities and points of interest, rich of history, but also modern attractions for tourists.
